Yeast Infection Information
As women, our bodies perform a lot of functions, and we are incredible beings! Think about everything that your body does while you are pregnant, for example! Your body protects, nurtures, and gives birth to a beautiful baby in 9 months! However as with anything amazing and complex, at times we suffer from challenges and issues. One of these issues is yeast infections, which many women get regularly in their vaginas or mouths (where it’s known as thrush). Yeast is caused by the Candida Albicans fungus. In case you never have had a yeast infection, how will you know about its signs & symptoms?
A yeast infection in the vagina is not caused by same type of yeast you use to bake, though it can smell like baking bread. The Candida Albicans that causes yeast infections is called a yeast infection because it mimics yeast. Candida Albicans and cooking yeast grow in similar conditions where it is warm, moist, as well as dark. For this reason, most people will have the infection in the folds of their skin and in their genital regions or mouths. Under normal circumstances, your body will counteract this growth of yeast just by producing some other kind of bacteria. If your body is weakened for some reason, though, this may not happen as it’s supposed to, and you’ll then have a yeast infection to contend with.
The process of natural defense can also be altered by various factors like use of some medications and illness. Antibiotics are notorious for causing yeast infections. That’s because these drugs kill the good bacteria that is supposed to kill the Candida Albicans. If not treated, you can get yeast all over your body, even on your skin and inside your organs, which can cause serious health problems. So, it’s not just the vagina that can be affected.
If you think you have a yeast infection but aren’t sure, ask yourself if you have burning or itching sensations anywhere on your body, any visible white patches, or a thick and odorous vaginal discharge. If you do, then you should go to a doctor right away and get treatment so you can feel better. Then think about preventing yeast infection from returning.
